Duties and Responsibilities

As a Water Truck Driver in the oil and gas sector, your responsibilities will include:

  • Operating water trucks to transport and distribute water for drilling, hydraulic fracturing, and other oilfield operations.
  • Delivering water to remote work sites while adhering to schedule and safety protocols.
  • Assisting with dust control, road maintenance, and equipment cleaning at oilfield sites.
  • Conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the truck is safe and operational.
  • Monitoring and maintaining water levels to meet the needs of active projects.
  • Following environmental and industry regulations for the safe handling and disposal of water.
  • Communicating with site supervisors and team members to coordinate deliveries and resolve issues.
  • Keeping detailed logs of water usage, trips, and maintenance activities.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, you will need:

  • A valid Class 3 driver’s license with air brake endorsement (Class 1 is an asset).
  • Clean driving record and commitment to safe driving practices.
  • Previous experience operating water trucks in oilfields or industrial settings (preferred).
  • Certifications such as H2S Alive, First Aid, WHMIS, and Ground Disturbance (or willingness to obtain).
  • Familiarity with oilfield operations and safety protocols, including an understanding of environmental compliance.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude to handle minor truck maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Physical fitness for working in challenging outdoor conditions, including extreme weather.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to ensure smooth operations on-site.
