We are hiring a skilled Dozer Operator to operate bulldozers and other heavy equipment to move earth, grade surfaces, clear sites, and support construction and infrastructure projects.
The Dozer Operator will be responsible for safe, efficient machine operation, routine inspections, and following site-specific safety and environmental procedures. This role suits candidates with experience operating bulldozers and other heavy equipment across varied job sites.
Duties and Responsibilities
As a Dozer Operator, your duties and responsibilities include:
- Operate bulldozers/dozers and attachments to cut, move, push, spread, backfill, and grade soil and materials.
- Read site plans, grade stakes, and use GPS/grade control systems to meet specifications.
- Perform pre-shift and post-shift machine inspections; report defects and coordinate basic maintenance.
- Maintain safe operating practices: follow traffic control, flagging, and site-specific safety rules.
- Coordinate with supervisors, spotters, and other equipment operators to complete tasks efficiently.
- Manage fuel, fluids, and basic lubrication checks as required.
- Keep the work area clean of hazards and properly store attachments and tools.
- Complete daily logs and report progress to the site superintendent.
Qualifications and Skills
Must-have qualifications and skills include:
- Proven experience operating bulldozers/dozers and heavy equipment.
- Strong understanding of grading, compaction, and earthmoving techniques.
- Ability to read grade stakes, construction drawings, and basic site layouts.
- Familiarity with GPS/laser grade control systems is an asset.
- Good mechanical aptitude for daily inspections and minor adjustments.
- Knowledge of safety standards and PPE use (WHMIS, site orientation).
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites.
- Physical ability to work outdoors in varied weather and lift/move equipment as needed.
Experience Requirements
- 2+ years of experience operating dozers in construction, civil, mining, or forestry environments.
- Experience operating multiple dozer models and attachments is preferred.
- Previous site-specific safety training or tickets (e.g., WHMIS, First Aid) are a plus.
Work Environment
- Outdoor worksites are located across urban and remote areas.
- Exposure to weather, dust, noise, and heavy machinery.
- Sites may include active construction zones, roadworks, quarries, or remote camps.
- PPE required at all times: safety boots, hard hat, high-visibility vest, hearing protection, eye protection.
Working Hours
- Standard shift: 8–10 hours/day, Monday–Friday; shifts may vary by project.
- Over time, shift work, weekend work, and on-call requirements may apply during project peaks.
- Travel or temporary relocation for multi-week sites is possible; per diem or travel allowance may be provided.
Compensation & Benefits
$31 per hour is the average wage (Depends on your work experience)
