Duties and Responsibilities
Here are the key responsibilities associated with the role of a Class 3 Truck Driver:
- Drive various class 3 vehicles weighing 13,000 kg (30,000 lbs) GVW.
- Ensure the timely and secure delivery of goods to specified locations, particularly in oil and gas operations.
- Maintain load security to secure and prevent movement during transit.
- Perform regular inspections and basic maintenance of the vehicle to ensure it remains in good working condition.
- Adhere to all applicable Canadian traffic laws and industry-specific regulations.
- Operate auxiliary equipment such as hydraulic lifts or winches for specific deliveries.
- Maintain accurate logs of trips, deliveries, and vehicle maintenance.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers to ensure a smooth delivery process.
- Follow industry safety standards and protocols specific to the oil and gas sector.
- Know and apply the region’s specific regulations to ensure compliance with standards.
Qualifications and Skills
The following qualifications and skills are required for this position:
- Must have a valid Class 3 driving license recognized in Canada.
- Experience driving Class 3 vehicles, particularly in the oil and gas industry, is preferred.
- Strong understanding of Canadian traffic rules and regulations.
- Ability to handle physically demanding tasks, including loading and unloading goods.
- Operate and maintain class 3 vehicles with attention to detail to ensure load security.
- [Alberta] Government-licensed certification is required.
- Additional safety certifications (e.g., H2S Alive, WHMIS, TDG)
- Familiarity with oil and gas operational procedures and safety standards.
- Agree to abide by the policy on narcotics, drugs, and alcohol.
