Duties and Responsibilities
A Class 1 driver is an individual who drives a tank truck, a vehicle with a vast, horizontal, cylindrical canister used to transport liquids, gasses, and other hazardous materials.
As a Class 1 Driver, you will:
- Operate and drive various Class 1 vehicles, including tankers, flatbeds, and trailers, to transport goods safely and efficiently.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with regulations.
- Load and unload cargo, securing loads according to safety standards.
- Maintain accurate logbooks and records of trips, adhering to hours-of-service regulations.
- Follow all company policies, safety protocols, and transportation laws.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, supervisors, and clients.
- Report any vehicle issues or incidents promptly.
Qualifications and Skills
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- A valid Class 1 driving license with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience driving Class 1 vehicles in the oil and gas industry is an asset.
- Knowledge of transportation laws and regulations.
- Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety.
- Ability to handle physical tasks such as loading and unloading cargo.
- Strong problem-solving and time-management abilities.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
